Hi! I’m Saber, a PhD candidate in Bioinformatics program at University of British Columbia (UBC) and a research assistant at Dr. Inanc Birol’s BTL lab at BC Cancer Genome Sciences Centre, Vancouver, Canada. I have a bachelor degree in Information Technology and a master degree in Medical Informatics. During my master studies I utilized data analysis approaches and machine learning algorithms to better understand the interaction between various cis-regulatory factors in different phases of RNA transcription. In my PhD, I developed a pipeline, called NanoSim which aims to characterize the next generation long-read sequencing technology, Oxford Nanopore. I am currently working on developing machine learning pipeline for embedding nucleotide sequences to learn features of the transcriptome data implicitly.
