I have an Ethereum node that is not syncing to the Ethereum network. It is possible that there are some issues with the bootnodes - refer to geth does not sync out of the box .

How can I easily create a list of peers from my syncing node so I can copy and paste a list of admin.addPeer(...) command into my non-syncing node?

  • What about connecting the two? Shouldn't that make the "lonely" node discover the peers of the other one?

Run the following command in your syncing node to create a list of admin.addPeer(...) commands that you can paste into your non-syncing node:

  admin.peers.forEach( function(e) {

Running the command above will create the following list of admin.addPeer(...) commands that you can paste into your geth console or geth attach command line to start your non-syncing geth node syncing:

The script replaces the ports of the peers to 30303 assuming that this is the port the connected peers are listening on. Some of these will be correct, some will not be. But this is enough to kick-start your node syncing.

  • where do i run getPeers function, in geth console ? my net.peerCount is 0 and i dont know why

  • If it is Ropsten you want to sync to, use the list of admin.addPeer(...) commands at ethereum.stackexchange.com/a/39548/1268 . This may give you a connection to the network. After you have connected, you can run the getPeers() command if you want to copy and paste this in another geth instance.

  • Sad, I have 4 peers before running the above commands. Now ended with 0 :(. Can anyone give an updated peers list?

This should work with a recent version of geth:
