I would like to understand how is total supply calculated and how could I know how much is circulating for particular token.

I will just use random token for example https://etherscan.io/address/0xd15ecdcf5ea68e3995b2d0527a0ae0a3258302f8#code

contract MachiXToken is StandardToken, Ownable {
    string public constant name = "MachiX Token";
    string public constant symbol = "MCX";
    uint8 public constant decimals = 18;
    uint256 public totalSupply = 1000000000 ether;

and etherscan shows https://etherscan.io/token/0xd15ecdcf5ea68e3995b2d0527a0ae0a3258302f8 1,000,000,000 MCX

How is this calculated and how could I get if all is in circulation or some parts are locked and will be distributed later? (someone showing me some examples of locked tokens in smart contract would be useful)

  • There is no standard mechanism, each project defines its own policy. – Ismael Jul 30 at 13:43
