Is it possible to make an affiliate program with Ethereum without requiring a new user to register before he starts to earn or spend money? (but instead using his Ethereum wallet address as his registration with my site)

To store the affiliate ID, I would need to make an Ethereum transaction and thus show MetaMask to a newly coming user, which he would reject or even leave my site immediately, because he has not asked for this transaction.

Any way to work around of this limitation?

  • I have an idea: I would pass the HTTP cookie to every money transfer operation (and set a variable when nonzero affiliate address is passed the first time for the given user). Drawback: need to add _cookie argument to every money transfer operation in the contract. – porton Jul 20 '20 at 21:45
