It's a pain to have to refactor tests written for TruffleV4 in web3 0.2.x to web3 1.0.x. Is there any way to avoid this situation by using web3 0.2.x instead within Truffle V5?

  • Not AFAIK. It's a known problem. In order to avoid the pain, you can downgrade all your contracts to Solc 0.4.25, and then use Truffle 4.1.15. It's generally a matter of which option is more painful in your opinion. – goodvibration Aug 13 '19 at 9:53
