When attempting setup a local private PoW blockchain, an issue is arising where instead of mining new blocks, Geth instead hangs on the first attempt to 'commit new mining work'. Between the two geth commands, the JSON file for the account is moved into the keystore of the data directory.

Another, potentially related issue is that when attempting to use 'sudo truffle deploy' on a valid smart contract, no output is provided regarding its failure (or success) but it doesn't deploy, either using Ganache or using the private setup blockchain.

Geth version: 1.8.27-stable

Any help would be appreciated.

  • Try increasing the verbosity level until something appear. You do not have to execute with sudo. – Ismael May 5 at 19:56
