For my test project, I have my geth running in main server(rpc port-8117). The api(node.js), which is used to interact with the geth is present in the other system. In the api, I have given the http provider in the correct manner, which is pointing to the correct URL(server).

var web3 = new web3(new web3.providers.HttpProvider('http://10.53.17.228:8117'));

But I am not able to establish the connection between them. I'm getting the error.

Error: Invalid JSON RPC response: undefined

(p.s) If I have the api file in the same directory where my geth is running(in the server), the setup is working fine.

So, my question is that whether the above mentioned type of establishing the connection(by keeping the files in different loc) is posible or not?

Thanks in advance...
