Unable to call deployer.deploy()

Question

I am currently trying to build this small blockchain app using JS, truffle and solidity. However, I am stuck trying to run the following command: todoList = await Todolist.deploy(). It responds with Todolist is not defined.

This is my js migration file:

var Migrations = artifacts.require("./Migrations.sol");
    module.exports = function(deployer) {
  deployer.deploy(Migrations);};

This is my js deploy file:

var Todolist = artifacts.require("./Todolist.sol");

module.exports = function(deployer) {
  deployer.deploy(Todolist);
};

I have tried truffle migrate --reset, but it doesn't seem to recognise the migrate part. Also, I have tried removing await from the codeline.
