I'm approaching to Ethereum with Geth and Clef using the official docs:

I have a problem when running this function (from the docs tutorial):

eth.sendTransaction({from:"<ADDRESS_0>",to:"<ADDRESS_1>", value: web3.toWei(0.01,"ether")})

I receive ERROR

Error: unknown account
        at web3.js:6347:37(47)
        at web3.js:5081:62(37)
        at <eval>:1:20(15)

The steps I have done are:

  1. Create 2 accounts with command: clef newaccount

  2. Open Socket IPC with Clef using command:

    clef --keystore C:/Users/me/AppData/Local/Ethereum/ropsten/keystore --chainid 3

  3. Running Geth syncmode on ropsten using Clef like external signer:

geth --ropsten --syncmode "light" --cache 8192 --http --signer=//./pipe/clef.ipc

  4. Open JavaScript console IPC using command: geth attach //./pipe/geth.ipc

The function eth.getBalance works and returns "1" for first account (because I have used a Ropsten Faucet to request ETH)

The strange thing is that when i ask to Clef the list of accounts using this:

echo '{"id": 1, "jsonrpc": "2.0", "method": "account_list"}' | nc -U ~/.clef/clef.ipc

returns the two accounts created. Instead if i ask account list from Geth Console using eth.accounts it returns [] empty.

I'm thinking this: maybe because the two accounts created with Clef is a local accounts and I need to connect them to ropsten network? Maybe I skipped a step? But why the Faucet and the function eth.getBalance reached the account?

Anyone can help me please?

Thank you
